Qld Senior Teams 2018: The 2018 Qld Senior Teams was hosted by our club on 3/4 February 2018. A total of 30 teams competed, including many from Brisbane and other areas.

Mary Murray's 100th Birthday: Club stalwart Mary Murray celebrated her 100th birthday this week, and on Tuesday morning the Club had a special morning tea in her honour. The 24 tables of players stopped for an extended morning tea while Mary cut the cake and gave a brief speech.

Channel 7 and WIN attended. Mary was interviewed during that time.

Qld Novice Pairs: The 2017 Qld Novice Pairs was hosted by our club in November with 38 pairs from all over Queensland contending. Winners (pictured) were Debbie and Gary Gibbards from Caboolture.

Club members Gary Petterson and Laurie Bell came third in the A category, and in the B category George Blacklock / Marylin Endacaott were first and Annette Moss / Peter Logan were third.

August Teams Congress: The August Teams congress attracted 24 teams from across the Coast and Brisbane. Winners (pictured) were Drew Dunlop, Tony Walford, Randall Rusk and Steve Hughes.

Clubhouse outside improvement: The front of our Clubhouse has had a facelift. The lattice has been replaced with modern looking paneling as pictured.

A new garden has replaced the old one and plants are doing well. [posted Sun 30-Jul-17]

Teams Championship 2017: The 2017 Club Teams Championship was contested in July by 18 teams. After 17 matches over 3 sessions, the Perry team was victorious. Pictured are the winning team members - Joan McPheat, Bev Stacey, Rosemary Crowley and Richard Perry.

June Congress 2017: The 2017 June Congress was held 16-18 June. For the first time, we held a walk-in pairs session on Friday, and this was well supported with 11 tables. Winners were Ursula Sheldon - Susanne Sabados (NS) and Alison Dawson - Gabrielle Elich (EW).

Saturday's Pairs event was won by regulars Jim Wallis and Toni Bardon who were here for the June congress for the 29th consecutive year. The Category B prize was won by Maz McKee - Terry Beale, and the C category prize was won by Peter and Valerie Robbins.

The Teams event was won by the Carter team from Brisbane (Tony Hutton, Malcolm and Lyn Carter and Martin Doran) with the B category prize going to the Stanton team and the C category to the Schaaf team from Noosa.

Many thanks to Ursula as congress convenor and Sunday caddy, Trish as Saturday caddy, Ted and Marcia for looking after the drinks, Steve as assistant director on Sunday, and last but definitely not least to Donna, Fay, Anne, Iris and many others who helped in the kitchen and with food donations. Pairs Championship: The 2017 Pairs Championship was played in May. The event consisted of two sessions of qualifying rounds, followed by one session of finals. The finals were played in three grades, Championship, Plate and Consolation.

Winners of the Championship were Maureen Jakes and Alison Dawson and they become the title holders. Runners up were Adrienne Kelly and Steve Brookes. The Plate was won by Verna Brookes and Peter Busch with the Consolation winners Denis Moody and Howard Baker. [posted Mon 29-May-17]

About our Club: The Sunshine Coast Contract Bridge Club is one of the top bridge clubs on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, and is centrally located at Buderim (see Google Maps - enter via Syd Lingard Drive).
