New Laws of Bridge

The 2007 Laws of Duplicate Bridge were adopted by the Executive Council of the World Bridge Federation at its meeting on 12th October 2007. They will be adopted in Australia sometime in 2008, and at this stage, it is expected that this will happen in February, such that the new laws will apply for the Gold Coast Congress.

The complete set of laws, as well as comparisons between old and new, are available at www.ecatsbridge.com/Documents/2007laws.asp.

There will undoubtedly be some discussions and decisions with the new laws in Australia at the state and national levels, and information will most likely be forthcoming from the ABF and/or QBA in this regard.

In the mean time, Reg Busch will be preparing some notes on the new laws, and they will be published on this site as they are available. Note that Reg has prepared this as a guide for directors and players on the changes in the Laws. He reminds readers not to start applying them until the ABF has announced the official date. He also reminds readers that the views and interpretations are his own only, and carry no official weight, as he no longer has any official status with the QBA.
