Policies for Club Championships

The following have all been endorsed at Management Committee meetings held in October, November, December 2005 and June 2006:-

Note - if a specific policy is not mentioned in this document, then the applicable QBA regulation will apply.

Club Championships:

 

(a) These competitions are to be run by a non-playing director.

(b) Current club directors are to be offered the chance to direct the Club  competitions (Pairs, Restricted Pairs, Teams and President's Trophy) before an outside director is asked.

(c) Times allowed for play per round to be the same as for other sessions.

(d) Red points on the championship days will be awarded to players in the competition but not to players in the other section/s of the room.

(e) Entry conditions (see below) for the various club championships to be displayed either on the entry form or on the wall adjacent to the form.

Entry fees for 2006 club competitions
  • Pairs and Teams: $15.00 per person (represents table fees + $6.00 entry fee)
  • President�s Trophy: $15.00 per person

Entry fees for future competitions to be determined at the time.

Prize Money

 

(a) Amounts:-

  • Pairs: 1st and 2nd prize, wine for 3rd place
  • Teams: 1st and 2nd prize, wine for 3rd place
  • Restricted pairs: 1st and 2nd prize, wine for 3rd place.
  • Presidents Trophy: 1st prize only

Recommended amounts; 1st $40.00 per person, 2nd $20.00 per person.

(b) If there are sufficient entries, a cash prize for 3rd place will be awarded.

(c) If there are sufficient entries and if the field is divided into a Championship and a Plate then prize money will be awarded in both sections.

(d) The actual prize money awarded is dependant on number of entries.

Entry Conditions for Club Championships

(a) All entrants and their substitutes must be members of the Club.

(b) A team may consist of up to six players.

(c) In the Restricted Pairs event, entrants are limited to 100MP and below as of a date to be specified on the entry form.

(d) If the number of pairs nominated would result in a half-table, then the last pair to nominate must withdraw, but will be short-listed as a standby pair.

(e) In an emergency, a substitute who is not a member, or in the restricted pairs event, has more than 100 MPs, will be permitted to play, at the director's discretion.

(f) If an entrant in the Pairs, Teams or President's Trophy plays with a substitute who is not a member of the Club, or in the Restricted Pairs has above 100 MPs, then that entrant and their original partner, or the team, will not be eligible for the title, trophy, or prize money, but will be entitled to any masterpoints they may have won.

Format - Teams

1. A team may have 4-6 players.

2. The Director to be notified that the preferred option is that all teams (numbers permitting) play all other teams. i.e. a round robin event, and that all teams to play the same number of pre-dealt boards per match.

Format - Pairs Championships and President's trophy

1. Limited to an even number of pairs.

2. The Director to be informed that the preferred option (numbers permitting) is that all players meet all other players, and all play the same number of pre-dealt boards.

3. If necessary, the field may be divide into a Championship and a Plate.
