NEW LESSONS FOR IMPROVERS: CARD PLAY WORKSHOP

Three Mondays in October 2024: 14th, 21st and 28th

Become a more skillful and confident declarer with my new card play workshop: three new lessons especially designed for new and improving players. Good declarer play doesn't just happen; it's not something you can pick up just by playing a lot of bridge and watching how other, more experienced players do it. To play your hands well, you'll need to understand a few card play techniques, as well as how to plan your line of play. Lesson 1, Playing With Finesse, will teach you the essential card play techniques that every declarer must know. In Lessons 2 and 3, Before You Play To The First Trick, I'll give you simple plans for effective declarer play in both no trumps and suit contracts.

Lesson 1: Monday October 14th: 8.45am-11.45am
PLAYING WITH FINESSE!

A comprehensive guide to the art of the finesse, and other essential card play techniques. Lesson will include:

  • How to take a finesse
  • When you shouldn't finesse
  • The two-way finesse
  • The danger hand
  • Playing towards honours
  • Holding up

Lesson 2: Monday October 21st: 8.45am-11.45am
BEFORE YOU PLAY TO THE FIRST TRICK: NO TRUMPS

I'll show you four simple steps for planning a successful line of play in no trumps contracts, with plenty of practice hands for you.

Lesson 3: Monday October 28th: 8.45am-11.45am
BEFORE YOU PLAY TO THE FIRST TRICK: SUIT CONTRACTS

While we use many of the same card play techniques for no trumps and suit contracts, we need different strategies for each. This lesson will teach you the four steps for planning your play in suit contracts. Again, there will be plenty of practice hands.

Course run by Lisa Phillips. Cost is $10.00 per lesson. My new book "Let's Learn Bridge: Card Play" will also be available and costs $20.00
