BEGINNERS' PROGRESSION/SUPERVISED PLAY

Weekly supervised play sessions, combined with ongoing education. Covering a wide range of topics including scoring, weak and strong bidding, opening no trumps, declarer card play and defence. Each session starts with a short lesson, designed to build on your knowledge as you become more comfortable and familiar with the basics.

Playing in supervised sessions will help you become a more confident and competent player. You can refer to your notes, and I have a wonderful team of helpers to support you. All newbies are welcome and you can come with or without a partner.

Important: To enable us to run smoothly, please arrive and be seated by 8.30am.

Cost is normal game fee: $7.25 members/ $9.25 non-members.

IMPROVERS' LESSONS JULY 2026

MONDAY 6TH JULY: DOUBLE TROUBLE!

Of all the bids in bridge, there is none as versatile - or as open to misinterpretation - as the humble double. This lesson will teach you four of the most useful types of doubles you need to know: negative double, support double, strong double and pinch bid.

MONDAY 13TH JULY: SLAM BIDDING

A comprehensive lesson on slam bidding in suit contracts, using Roman Key Card Blackwood (RKCB). Includes how to ask for the queen and show outside kings. This lesson will also teach you Mini-Key Card a nifty low-level asking bid that lets you look for slam and still stop in game if necessary.

MONDAY 20TH JULY: MULTI TWOS

Multi twos allow you to open and show a variety of hands that you otherwise have to pass, with the added benefit of obstructing and confusing your opponents, making it harder for them to find their best contract. Even if you don't play Multis it's important to understand them, so you don't get bamboozled! This lesson also includes a simple system of bidding after your opponent opens a multi two.

LET'S LEARN BRIDGE BEGINNERS' COURSE

Next course commences Monday 27th July 2026: 8.30am- 11.45am

This is a fun, stimulating and very interactive course, specially designed to give you a solid foundation of basic bridge in the least amount of time.

After just six lessons you'll be able to play bridge in our supervised sessions. This is where the real learning happens, as you get to practice your new skills in a supportive and pressure-free setting.

You can learn with a partner, or come solo and we'll match you up with someone - playing bridge is a great way to meet new people and make lifelong friends!

Cost for the six-week course is $60 and includes lesson book and morning tea.
